The Dubai Health Authority's (DHA) mission is to transform Dubai into a leading healthcare destination by means of fostering innovative and integrated care models and through enhanced community engagement. As an extension of the exploration, belief and optimism in the frontiers of innovation, DHA established ‘Dubai Health Hack’ to engage the community and promote an interest of technology in a healthcare focus.
Dubai Health Hack will aim to increase community engagement, enhance patients care models and find innovative ways to provide health solutions for today’s challenges.

The theme for this year’s hackathon is to provide a platform that will yield results supporting people of determination (people with disability). Our hope with this hackathon is to ‘Empower the Determined.’ Participants will focus on discovering solutions that can either diagnose, monitor, or treat challenges within any of the three themes that are relevant to people with determination.
Persons with disabilities (people of determination) include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
[Article 1 of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities]
"My Community... A City for Everyone" was launched in November 2013 by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.
"My Community... A City for Everyone" aims at turning Dubai into a friendly city for people of determinations by the year 2020 through projects and initiatives that promote the participation and inclusion of people of determination in the community, eliminating all obstacles that may stand in the way of them positively engaging in their environments, as capable individuals of society.
Our goal is for people of determination to have access to quality health and rehabilitation services, including mainstream specialized services.
We aim to ensure inclusive, quality, general and preventive healthcare, provide screening, early intervention and needs assessment services, and promote specific, affordable rehabilitation and mental health services.
Although “people with disabilities” sometimes refers to a single population, this is actually a diverse group of people with a wide range of needs. Two people with the same type of disability can be affected in very different ways. Some disabilities may be hidden or not easy to see.
